The Ultimate Café Guide to Madrid

In a city that thrives on coffee and conversation, Madrid offers what feels like an endless abundance of cafés, each with its own charm. But if you don’t have the luxury of living here (or the time to café-hop across the entire city), I’ve got you covered.
This list highlights spots that stand out for one of four things: amazing coffee, delicious matcha, great food, and memorable vibes. Whether you're looking to grab a quick drink to go “para llevar” or a cozy corner to linger and chat, these cafés are well worth a visit.

Coffee
Naji Specialty Coffee
This is hands down my top pick among all the coffee shops in Madrid. Living in Madrid, I’ve had the chance to explore their extensive and creative menu, and I can confidently say I have never had a bad drink. From their expertly extracted espresso to their smooth matcha, you really can’t go wrong.
Treat yourself to their most popular option, the pistachio latte, or venture out and try my personal favorite: the tangerine latte. It’s a refreshing yet cozy drink that can brighten up even the gloomiest day.
Hola Coffee
Without fail, whenever I visit a coffee shop and am impressed by the drink, nine times out of ten, the beans are from Hola Coffee. Hola Coffee isn’t just a series of cafés around the city, they are also a roastery with a vast and delicious selection of beans. Stop by and try a cup, and if you’re into it (which you probably will be), grab a bag to take home and brew your own.

Matcha
Doku Toku
I might be a little biased, but this little café stole my heart the moment I walked in. It already had major points for being just two minutes from my apartment, but the real danger is their matcha. It's genuinely the best I’ve had in Madrid, and living this close makes it way too tempting to grab one every single day.
On top of that, the staff are some of the warmest, kindest people you’ll encounter, which only makes me love it more. Don’t overlook the rest of the menu either, they offer a high-quality selection of teas and treats, making it the perfect pit stop during a busy day of shopping on Gran Vía.
ōī
One of the newest additions to my regular café rotation, ōī is sure to satisfy even the pickiest matcha connoisseur. If you are feeling adventurous, try their iced creamy coconut matcha—coconut water topped with a creamy matcha cloud. It’s the perfect balance of refreshing and indulgent. The interior is light and airy, making it the perfect spot for an afternoon pick-me-up.

Vibe
JINGPING E HIJO (Café de Especialidad)
This stunning space is nothing short of a work of art. The way it weaves together tea, coffee, and design is something that truly has to be experienced. A thoughtful mix of modern and vintage elements reflects perfectly in everything, from the traditional tea and vintage furniture to the contemporary edge of their coffee. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, unwind, and lose track of time.
La Casa Amande
This quaint little café features a beautifully intentional interior, from its cozy corners to every little detail. It feels like a modern French farmhouse, with charming touches like the tiles and the bookshelf. It’s the perfect place to grab a coffee and snack and let your worries melt away.

Eats
Natif Coffee
On the weekends, this place is always buzzing, and for good reason. Their menu features creative flavors that elevate even the simplest dishes. One of my favorites is their comfort porridge. From the ingredients to the presentation, everything is crafted with such an aesthetic touch that you can’t help but fall in love.
Misión Café
Whenever someone’s visiting Madrid and asks for a classic, easy brunch spot with great vibes all around, I always send them to Misión. I especially recommend anything that involves a baked item since their very own bakeshop is right next door making all the goodness fresh daily.

Treats
ACID Café
The bright red backdrop makes the perfect bold statement, letting the pastries truly shine. I recommend coming here with a friend so you can order an array of things to split and try it all. Sit around, chat for a while, and if something’s still calling your name, just hop back in line and order another round. It’s that kind of place.
Cuadra
The heavenly aromas that drift out of this place are enough to make your mouth water just thinking about them. From freshly baked bread and buttery croissants to decadent cakes and irresistible treats, there's something here for everyone. I dare you to play dessert roulette - whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed.
